This is a time when the River City Men embark on an adventure together. We believe that discipleship is more than just being a pupil, but a pilgrim called to embark on an adventure to follow Jesus and to become more like him. Pilgrims: The Heroic Alliance are men who desire to embark on this adventure together and learn to love and follow Jesus affectionately and heroically.
Please come. “As you are, not as you should be, because none of us are as we should be.” – Brennan Manning.
This is our first annual men’s retreat.
The weekend includes teaching from local guest speaker, one-on-one coaching sessions, guided devotionals and worship. This all takes place in the context of a loving community in the midst of the beauty of nature.
You can keep running through your busy life alone, feeling alone, tired, and maybe even a little bit useless at times, or you can join us and get away, retreat, and refocus with other men just like you.
Date: January 15-17, 2016
Location: 40103 Evan Rd., Loon Lake, Wa 99148
Guest Speaker: Dave Wall (Director of Community Engagement for UGM)
Dave was born and raised in Los Angeles in the 1960’s. It was during the turbulent Watt’s riots that his family moved from the chaos of Inglewood to an affluent area of Southern California. His Christian home and upbringing was both a blessing and a curse and one that Dave describes as legalistic and conformity based. His family moto: “Don’t smoke, drink, or chew or go with girls that do.”
In his early 20’s, Dave, left for Europe with only a backpack and an acceptance letter into Capernwray Bible School in northern England. While attending, he would meet Becky, his future wife. It was in England that Jesus Christ became real to Dave and his heart became passionate for an authentic Christian life.
After returning to the states, Dave got a job on an oil field while completing college. He married, Becky and a year later, the two decided to move to Spokane and work for the Union Gospel Mission. 28 years and four kids later they both love serving the homeless and helping people in need of a second chance. About the Mission, Dave says, “It’s the worst and the best all under one roof. I love it and I can’t imagine being any place better.”
